ABOUT ROCHELLE CONNER FOR STATE ASSEMBLY

I am a wife, mother, soccer grandma, and the proud daughter of a Vietnam Veteran. As a retired executive administrator with a Bachelor’s degree in Business and over 30 years of experience — in private, government and nonprofit sectors — I understand how government works and the real challenges facing California families. I know what it's like to be a professional and homeless, living in my car because of the high cost of housing. California families are facing similar challeges in this economy. Let's reduce taxes, cut regulations to retain businesses in California and bring decision-making back to you The People.

LIST OF ISSUES
Restore Common-Sense Regulations

Excessive government regulations are driving businesses out of California. Overregulation through complex rules, permits, and bureaucratic delays stifle development, limit opportunities and make it harder for businesses to grow, innovate, and create jobs. Too often, entrepreneurs and small businesses are forced to fight through endless red tape just to succeed.

It’s time to cut the bureaucracy and restore common-sense regulations that encourage growth instead of blocking it. By reducing unnecessary barriers, we can unleash innovation, support business expansion, and create an environment where economic opportunity can thrive  and good-paying jobs are created in our communities.
Reduce Taxes

Taxes are driving up the cost of gas, food, and transportation, making it harder for working families to get ahead.

Sacramento is studying a pay-per-mile driving tax to take even more money from hardworking families who already pay some of the highest taxes in the nation.

We’ve had enough.

I will fight to repeal excessive taxes, fees, and hidden costs, and the same failed tax-and-spend policies that burden hard-working families. It’s time to stop raising taxes and start managing taxpayer dollars responsibly.
Parental Rights.

Parents—not the government—have the fundamental right and responsibility to raise their children. Families should be free to make decisions about their children’s education, school choice, medical care, and upbringing according to their own values and beliefs.

Government’s role should be to support families, not control them. Unfortunately, California has increasingly moved toward policies that place government between parents and their children. I believe it’s time to restore parental rights, local control, and family decision-making, ensuring parents remain the primary voice in their children’s lives.
Restore Local Control

It’s time to restore local control. Sacramento has increasingly taken authority away from our cities, counties, and school boards—away from the leaders who understand their communities best. State bureaucrats are imposing one-size-fits-all mandates on issues like housing development, school policies, and local public safety decisions.

Our communities are different, and the people who live and work here deserve a real voice in the decisions that affect their daily lives.  Government works best when it is closest to the people and directly accountable to the voters. I will fight to return decision-making power to our cities, counties, and school boards—where local leaders can respond to the needs of the people they serve, not the demands of Sacramento.
